Trade Permit Requirements

Trade Permits are issued between 8:00 a.m. and 9:45 a.m. ONLY

You must apply for permits IN PERSON. If the license holder is sending a representative, the representative must have: an ORIGINAL letter of authorization, signed by the license holder on letterhead from the license holder, naming a specific person authorized to obtain the permit, with a copy of the license holder's license, and proper identication.

We accept ORIGINAL applications only; either typewritten or filled out in ink and legible.

A copy of the appropriate current State Occupational License is required for all work.

A complete set of plans and specifications, or proper drawings or written description for minor work (blue line, photocopies or otherwise indelibble) is required. Pay filing fee.
In accordance with City Ordiance, Section 15.10.020
NO PERMITS (except Demolition) can be issued unless property tax and sewer user (WPCA) fees are current at the time of application for a particular property. In order to verify the information applicants may:
1. File the application for a permit; verification will be done via E-Mail from the Building Department, once verification is confirmed, the permit will be issued and mailed to the applicant.
OR
2. You may call the Building Dept. 576-7225 between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. at least 24 hours prior to filing for the permit, provide an accurate address and the proposed nature of work and we will attempt to verify the payment of WPCA and City Taxes prior to your arrival.
OR
3. Take the Verification Form (available from the Building Department, to the Tax Collector's Office and the WPCA for proper signatures and return it to the Buidling Department.
REQUIRED PERMITS INCLUDE:
Require permits include: electrical (including low voltage alarm, elevator, dat, cable, telephone), plumbing, fire protection (including sprinkler, standpipe, yard systems, chemical) heating, air conditiong, refigeration, exhaust hoods, and duct systems).

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION AS REQUIRED
Architect and/or engineer's seal and signature on all plans as provided by State Building Code, 2005, Section 106.
Fire Marshal's approval is required on: fire protection, fire alarm, exhaust hood, fuel tank permit application and plans.
