SWIMMING POOLS

Prefabricated swimming pools that are less than 24 inches deep are exempt from requiring a permit.  All others require a permit.

 How to Obtain a Swimming Pool Permit

Provide two complete sets of plans and specifications or proper drawings (blue line, photocopies or otherwise indelible). Swimming pools require engineered manufacturer specification sheet  (ask your retailer to provide you with the mfg information), provide fencing,  gate details and alarm information.

Fill out the Building Permit Application (original only) in ink and completely, all “non-shaded” areas are to be filled out by applicant.

  • Provide 3 copies of your “Plot Plans’’ showing all buildings (existing and new), proposed grades, accurate boundary lines. They may be available at Engineering Department (Room 216).
  • FOR ALL CONSTRUCTION, provide a list of all contractors hired to work at site and current copies of their Worker’s Compensation coverage  (or the signed affidavit form).  A copy of Home Improvement Contractor’s Registration as required by law.
  • Include any copies of any Federal; State or Historic District permits with application if required.
     
  • Take all items to ZONING DEPARTMENT; ROOM 206- for help with filling out the Zoning Application and to gain Zoning approvals only. A filing fee will be charged. (Note: Zoning action may apply- verify with Zoning) They will issue a receipt and stamp the Building Permit Application.
  • Take all items to ENGINEERING ROOM- 216 to be reviewed for flood zones and new sewer connections of any kind. They will stamp the Building Permit Application
  • Take “Compliance Form for City Taxes and WPCA Fees” (Original form available only in the Building Department) to Tax Assessor- City Hall Room 121 and WPCA- 695 Seaview Ave. for compliance verification. Or, call or Fax the Building Dept. 24 hours prior to filing for a permit and provide a complete and accurate property address where work will be done.

(a)     Fire Marshal’s (Room 211) approval is required on all other building permit applications and plans.

WHEN COMPLETED with all of the above:
Return all items to the
BUILDING DEPARTMENT, ROOM 220, file application for building permit (between 8:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.) and pay filing fees.
