Department Information:

FUNCTION: To serve as the central personnel office for the City of Bridgeport.

SERVICES PROVIDED:

*Hiring for City of Bridgeport Departments;  Testing for entry level and promotion jobs with the City of Bridgeport;

 * Administration of pension plan for Civil Service and Grant Personnel employees under the Municipal Employees Retirement System (MERS);  

* Payroll administration and verification;

* Classification;

* Interpretation and administration of Civil Service Charter of the City of Bridgeport;

* Compliance with State and Federal laws in regard to employment and union contracts.

PEOPLE SERVED: General public and employees of the City of Bridgeport.
